Europe’s foremost violinist Jyotsna Srikanth returns with brand new trio project, Shakthi.

Experience Jyotsna’s mesmerising sound in collaboration with two highly respected performers Shadrach Solomon and Karthik Mani in new project Shakthi.

Shakthi is a collection of contemporary Indian compositions blending traditional ragas with electronics and ethnic Indian percussions. Translating from Sanskrit as strength, Shakthi represents the courage and perseverance of artists to survive pandemic lockdowns. Despite livelihoods immensely impacted, the artists of this project created these compositions during lockdown. It is because of the strength to survive that Jyotsna Srikanth’s team have once again begun to perform and tour.

Jyotsna Srikanth

Bangalore born Jyotsna Srikanth’s music illuminates South Indian Carnatic musical tradition in kaleidoscope colour! Her sound is distinct, reflecting her creative musical elastic expressivity and various influences including the cinema of India, rustic sounds of rural Mysore fiddle players and even sixties jazz swing.

Jyotsna was trained in Carnatic music from an early age under legendary RR Keshavmurthy – one of the pioneers of the Carnatic seven stringed violin. During her career, Jyotsna has played on over two hundred South Indian cinematic soundtracks. Upon moving to London, her work expanded to include television, engagements with prestigious venues and European festivals.

Time Out described Jyotsna as ‘Britain’s finest violinist of Indian classical music’.

An experience not to be missed!
