Known for her deeply expressive style and genre-crossing collaborations, Roopa Panesar brings the timeless beauty of the sitar to life in a performance that blends tradition with innovation. For this special concert, Roopa is joined by Harkiret Bahra on tabla, and Bangalore Prakash on Carnatic percussion.
Roopa has performed to sold-out audiences at the Barbican and Southbank Centre. She has collaborated with artists such as Mercury Prize winner Talvin Singh and the Belgian Symphony Orchestra. Her musical journey began at a young age, guided by the legendary Ustad Dharambir Singh ji MBE from the age of seven to now. It has taken her to stages around the world – from BBC broadcasts to film soundtracks (‘West is West’) and royal commemorations.
Harkiret Singh Bahra is a distinguished tabla player and devoted teacher. He has significantly contributed to the vibrant tapestry of Indian classical music. His collaborations continue to showcase his ability to blend traditional and contemporary sounds.
RN ‘Bangalore’ Prakash is a popular mridangam and ghatam artist performing globally, with many Carnatic concerts relying on his flawless accompaniment. Although his expertise is in Indian classical music, his musical style is versatile and adventurous.
These three masterful musicians wield rhythms and textures to create a rich, immersive soundscape.
