Celebration of Indian Classical Music and Dance.

At Rhythm Utsav 2022 we are delighted to present Europe’s foremost Indian violinist Jyotsna Srikanth along with Bristol based senior artists and art schools.

The event will begin with children and young person performances with the main concert taking place after the showcase. The first set of the main concert will be performed  pre-interval, followed by the full set after the interval.

Jyotsna with Mridangam, Ghatam and Khanjira will present an eclectic mix of Carnatic classical, light classical and film songs.

Jyotsna Srikanth

Bangalore born Jyotsna Srikanth’s music illuminates South Indian Carnatic musical tradition in kaleidoscope colour! Her sound is distinct, reflecting her creative musical elastic expressivity and various influences including the cinema of India, rustic sounds of rural Mysore fiddle players and even sixties jazz swing.

Jyotsna was trained in Carnatic music from an early age under legendary RR Keshavmurthy – one of the pioneers of the Carnatic seven stringed violin. During her career, Jyotsna has played on over two hundred South Indian cinematic soundtracks. Upon moving to London, her work expanded to include television, engagements with prestigious venues and European festivals.

“An extraordinary and versatile violinist … mesmerising”–  The Guardian

“…the amazing Jyotsna Srikanth on violin.” – Independent, BBC Proms Concert

“..silky rich tones of Jyotsna’s violin” ***** 5 stars – The Evening Standard
