Prominent Indian Flute player Rakesh Chaurasia will be touring the UK.
A special tour featuring renowned flute player Rakesh Chaurasia who will be accompanied with UK-based tabla player Shahbaz Hussain. We’re bringing this epic show to multiple venues across the country. Watch this captivating show live.
Rakesh Chaurasia
Double Grammy winner Rakesh Chaurasia hails from Indian flautist royalty – renowned flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia is his uncle – and Rakesh has built his own reputation, wowing those new to the instrument & fans of classical Indian flute music alike.
Rakesh has already globe trotted many times over, enthralling audiences in Japan, Australia, Europe, South Africa and USA, as well as festival performances at WOMAD and more, recorded with leading stalwarts of the Indian film industry, and played the closing slot of BBC’s worldwide 24-hour live music broadcast celebrating Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee.
Possessing a rare balance of strength and serenity, his highly dextrous blowing technique,
coupled with his training of ‘Swar’ and ‘Tala’, creates a playing style that is instantly
recognisable and richly emotive, a kind of alchemy created with solely his breath and a hollow piece of bamboo.
“Grammy winner Rakesh Chaurasia and his flute are teaching
the world a new tune” The Week
“The richness of timbre and delicacy of rhythm … act as magnetic forces which draw the listener along for a yearning quest for inner peace” All About Jazz
