  • A DJ workshop taking placed, two children in the foreground, shot from behind, playing with the CD decks.

These fun, hands-on workshops are your chance to get behind the decks and experiment with mixing.

Ever wondered how DJs mix tracks, layer beats and transform music into something completely new? As part of New Sounds Festival, come and explore the exciting world of DJing through the sounds, rhythms and musical influences of South Asia and beyond.

Led by Bristol-based electronic music producer, composer and DJ, Jay Singh, who performs as Indian Man, these fun, hands-on workshops are your chance to get behind the decks, experiment with mixing and discover how different sounds can come together — from South Asian musical traditions to contemporary beats, bhangra, Bollywood, Asian underground and beyond.

Whether you’re passionate about music, curious about DJ culture or simply want to try something new, this is your space to experiment, get creative and explore your own musical identity.

Never DJed before? No problem! These introductory sessions are designed for complete beginners, so no previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and love of music.

There are three seaprate sessions, one for each age group.

2pm – 3pm – for those aged 8-12
3pm – 4pm – for those aged 13-18
4pm – 5pm – for those aged 18-30

A ticket is only required for each participant, not their responsible adult/s.
