ABOUT:

Indian guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya brings universal appeal to his pioneering fusion of classical Indian ragas and bluesy Western music.

Embracing Hawaiian slide guitar from his childhood in the 1960s, Debashish invented a unique style of Hindustani slide guitar and has been mesmerising audiences and artists for over four decades with his unique blend of Indian ragas and western styles.

In the words of Acoustic Guitar Magazine, “you will likely never hear better acoustic slide playing than this”. Combining extreme virtuosity with graceful artistry, Debashish has received global acclaim, with two Grammy nominations (2002, 2009) a Songlines (2016) and BBC Award (2007), and has won the hearts of audiences around the world.

His acclaimed albums include Slide Guitar Ragas from Dusk Till Dawn and Hawaii To Calcutta: A Tribute to Tau Moe, which was Songlines Album of the Year in 2017.
