Born into a distinguished Bengali family of musicians, Debasmita began studying under her father, renowned sarod maestro Pandit Debasish Bhattacharya, before becoming a disciple of the legendary Padma Bhushan Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta of the illustrious Senia Shahjahanpur Gharana. This exceptional musical lineage has shaped an artist whose performances combine impeccable technique with profound musical sensitivity.

Alongside her celebrated solo career, Debasmita has collaborated with internationally renowned composers, orchestras and cross-cultural music projects, performing throughout India, the UK, Europe and the United States. Wherever she performs, her concerts are praised for their emotional intensity, virtuosity and ability to connect with audiences across cultures.
Joining her on tabla is Gurdain Singh Rayatt, one of the UK’s foremost tabla players and educators. Renowned for his dynamic accompaniment and exceptional musicianship, Gurdain has performed internationally with many of the greatest names in Indian classical music, including Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Rakesh Chaurasia, Niladri Kumar, Anoushka Shankar and many others. Outside the classical field, he performs across cultural musical genres including folk and Brazilian, Spanish, African music and electronica and dance. Equally at home in traditional classical performance and contemporary collaborations, he is recognised as one of Europe’s leading tabla artists.
