(★★★★ Songlines )

Performing on tabla is Gurdain Rayatt. One of the UK’s most exciting players, Gurdain’s performances range from traditional Indian classical to cross-cultural and experimental music. Rayatt has performed with the world’s best Indian classical musicians, including Anoushka Shankar and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

Also featured is a special performance by Giuliano Modarelli, who has collaborated with Roopa to create and perform a new piece, commissioned as part of the International Guitar Festival. The Italian guitarist‘s work transcends genres; based in London, his music draws from the city’s diverse international community, integrating influences from new jazz, electronic music, dub, Indian Classical Music, and London’s vibrant cultural landscape.

A ridiculously good guitarist. (Washington Post)
