In 2014, Asian Arts Agency produced a music and film project tour with Mercury winner Talvin Singh OBE, who is one of the most influential figures in British Asian music. The project “DEVI” celebrated 101 years of Indian cinema with a blend of film and live music.

On every night of the Bombay Talkies tour, working with a cross-cultural line-up of superb musicians, Talvin Singh would improvise a new score to the iconic Indian Arthouse classic Devi (1960). The stunning performances explored and extended key elements of the film’s original soundtrack, whilst musicians riffed off one another and reinvented the score in a potent blend of classical Indian and contemporary music.

Tour venues included Brighton Festival, Colston Hall in Bristol, Lakeside in Nottingham and the Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival.
