49 Strings performing in India.
49 Strings brings together five exceptionally talented musicians from India and Europe.
We are delighted to present 49 Strings in partnership with SOAS University. This event will take place on the 1st December at SOAS University, in the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, 7-9:30pm. The quintet include musicians from across India and Europe: Ambi Subramaniam from Bangalore who plays Carnatic violin, Latif Khan Manganiyar (from Rajasthan) plays dholak, Ikhlas Khan Langa (from Rajasthan) plays sarengi, Dara Khan Hamira (from Rajasthan) plays kamaicha and Saskia Rao-De Haas (Dutch, based in Delhi) plays a modified cello in Hindustani classical style.
They blend Western and Indian influences together, combining North Indian Ragas, South Indian Talas and Rajasthani Folk Tunes. We are delighted to be working with SOAS University to co-produce this event. This is their first ever UK tour and certainly not one to miss.
